Colors are abundant in both Chinese and English. Due to cultural diversity, different nations have different understanding in colors. This paper puts an emphasis on the nationality traits of color words through the classification of colors and analysis of symbolic meaning from different angles. It also explores the cultural and historical roots of two nations. We can avoid errors in cross-cultural communications based on a better understanding of cultural differences.
