Press Conference of the 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival Held in Japan

The 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival is scheduled to open from September 16 through 22 in the ancient city of Pingyao, Shanxi, China. To add international dimensions to the PIP festival, a delegation sent by the organizing committee flied to Japan and held a flurry of events in Kyodo, Tokyo and Hokkaido, including the Shanxi the Beautiful exhibition, the press conference of The 2004 Pingyao International Photography Festival, programs named as Sino-Japanese Photographic Art Exchange and Photo Creation in Japan. These activities publicized China as well as Shanxi, raised the profile of the PIP festival in Japan and promoted the photography exchange between China and Japan. And more importantly, they gave an international reach and lent a rich and diversified flavor to this years festival. It was the first time that Shanxi had held such publicity programs in Japan, following successful promotional activities conducted in recent years in a dozen countries in Europe and North America. And these events have been well received by Japanese colleagues.
