The genetic parameters on twelve agronomic characteristics of twelve maize inbred lines were studied. The results showed that direct selection of height of ear , leaf angle,and weight per hundred grais had the best effect because these characteristics are of highter heritabilities, genetic gains and a wide range of genetic variations. There were significant effects of indrect selection on improving inbred weight per hundred grains of four among five kinds of characteristic combinations.
