A Review of Idioms and Their Comprehension: A Cognitive Semantic Perspective

The paper, at first, introduces the main contents and theoretical basis of the book, which is followed by the discussion of how metaphor and metonymy play difierent parts in the formation of idioms. Then, it points out how conventional meaning derives from literal meaning, and that attention should be given to the role of literal meaning in the classification of implicature. Finally, it ends up with several suggestions.
