该文分初探“世界屋脊”、第一次世界大战前的“西藏热”和考察向西藏东部地区颂斜３部分着，重记述了１８４５至１９４５年期间英国、法国、德国、美国、瑞士等国人士在西藏的地理考察，涉及姓名、年代、路线、测绘情况和著作等。
This article focuses on describing the geographical expeditions in Tibet of Chi- na made between 1845 to l945 by Westerners from Britain , France , Germany , the United 5tates and 5witzerl.nd with an account of their names , dates , routes , surveys and writings.
