With the development of the on-vehicle detection and diagnosis technology and the improvement of the instant rotating speed inspection technology, the engine instant rotating speed inspection has become a helpful means to inspect the performance of engine and diagnose the troubles of engine. On the basis of a large number of tests and analyses,this paper determines the major criteria of using the engine instant rotating speed to measure the performance and to diagnose the faults. And also it introduces the most application of the engine instant rotating speed to the inspection of performance and the diagnosis of troubles as well as its existing problems.
