Alice Walker is an outstanding Afro-American woman writer. She shows outmost concern for the fate of black women by creating a group of women characters. This paper attempts to sort out the patterns of evolution in Alice Walker's heroines from historic and literary perspectives and to offer a clear understanding of her great contributions to woman literature.
