论《孟子》、《庄子》中的孔子形象

On the Image of Confucius in Mencius and Zhuangtze

笔者从接受学角度认真考察了《孟子》、《庄子》中的孔子形象,并与历史上的孔子加以对比,认为《孟子》对孔子进行了“圣化”,《庄子》则进行了“寓言化”,尽管两者中的孔子都有一定的历史真实性,但他们那种不拘泥于历史、主动拿来、为我所用的态度却是一致的,在治学方法上对后代亦有较大影响,可谓异曲同工。

The author, after making a serious study of the image of Confucius in the two Chinese classics-Mencius and Zhangtze and with reference to the historical Confucian figure, has come to the conclusion that Mencius has sanctified Confucius while Zhuangtze has allegorized him. Although the two depictions have certain historical truth, they represent a traditional intellectual attitude-not sticking to historical facts but using historical figures for one's own purpose. This kind of treatment has had a great impact upon later generations.
