Synaesthesia and Conceptual Metaphor

从认知的视角来看 ,通感也是一种隐喻 ,因此我们可用Lakoff和Johnson的概念隐喻理论来阐释通感现象。通感隐喻表现为感官特征之间的映射过程。在通感隐喻的意义建构与阐释过程中 ,感官特征通常从低级感官形式映射到高级感官形式。隐喻中概念通常从可及性较强的概念映射到可及性较弱的概念。揭示这一认知过程有助于读者更好地解读通感。

From the cognitive perspective synaesthetic metaphors can be interpreted within the framework of conceptual metaphor theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson. They consist of the mapping of properties from one modality to another. In the process of meaning construction and cognitive interpretation of synaesthetic metaphors mapping from lower modalities of sense onto higher ones is more frequently used and more natural than its inverse. Understanding of mapping from the more accessible to the less accessible sense may facilitate the readings of synaesthetic metaphors.
