The paper reviews the admission criteria of five famous colleges and universities in America. By making use of the documents from the websites of the five colleges and universities, it discusses the position and functions of some factors involved in the criteria and the application of the criteria. We can draw on their experience to reform criteria for admission to Chinese universities and colleges and to construct first-rate universities in China.
