The thesis discusses about how to develop the students' all-round abilities relating to the English intensive reading course. The author suggests many approaches, such as the mutual activities between the teachers and the students ?changing from the teacher's lecturing to the students'searching ?more combination with everyday life and the society and out-of the classroom activities, to broaden the students' opportunities to acquire knowledge and provide the students with more chances to use English.
