First Financial Turmoil in Modern Age China

在近代史上,西方国家的商品与资本输入、洋务派官员创办洋务企业的活动、民族资本的艰难发展,共同构成中国经济近代化的洪流。在这一进程中,中国既领略到经济近代化所带来的进步,也切身体会到它所造成的种种灾难。1883年发生于上海的金融危机,便是这一灾难的典型表现。文章旨在通过对1883年上海金融危机的分析,探究其爆发的原因,以作为今日经济发展之借鉴。

During the modern history,the mainstream of Chinese economic modernization was consisted of the input of customs and capital from western countries, the activities of the founding enterprises and the arduous development of domestic capital. In this process, Chinese people began to realize not only the advantages but also the disasters caused by the economic modernization.The financial crises happened in Shanghai in 1883 was a typical example. This paper intends to analyze the factors that caused the crises, as to mirror the current economic development.
