珍秦斋藏王二十三年秦戈考

A Study of the “Wang Er Shi Er Nian” Ge in the Zhen Qin Zhai Collection

澳门萧春源珍秦斋藏青铜戈一件,戈援细长上翘,中长胡三穿,内上有刻铭2行14字。铭“王二十三年”指秦昭襄王二十三年(前284年);“家丞”为魏冉封邑陶之丞,也是器物的监造者。本文据此戈及十四年、二十年相邦冉戈、二十六年丞相戈等相关秦兵器讨论魏冉五任相邦的情况,昭襄王时期秦戈形制及战国晚期秦的工官制度。

A bronze ge (dagger-axe) in the Treasures of Qin Studio (Zhen Qin Zhai)collection of Xiao Chunyuan of Macao has a fine, long and upward flaring yuan and threebores through the hu section of the piece. On the na of the object is a 14-characterinscription in two lines, in which the following words appear: “In the 23th year of theKing? This refers to the 23th year (284 BCE) of the reign of King Zhao Xiang of Qin. Theword “jiacheng”in the inscription refers to Tao zhi Cheng, Tao being the capital of theWei-Ran fief and “Tao zhi Cheng?the artisan who made the bronze ge. The authordiscusses this ge’s inscription with relation to texts on the Xiangbang Ran ge of the14th and 20th years, as well as the Chengxiang ge of the 20th year and other Qin weapons,in the context of the five incumbents holding the position of xiangbang (prime minister)of Wei-Ran, the designs of ge produced during the reign of King Zhao Xiang and the systemof official workshops operating in Qin during the late phase of the Warring States period.
