Death of A Salesman is a classic tragedy. The leading character, Willie Lowman is deceived by the distorted American Dream and gradually ends up with a tragic death. He is on the bottom of the capitalist society and tries to fulfill his value of life, the recognition of others, at the expense of his life. However, the capitalist system demands a person nothing but working without thinking just like a machine, so that humane aspect of human beings is denied, which is just the root of cause that leads Willie from disappointment to despair and to death. Therefore, this play criticizes the society Willie lives in.
