探索英汉缩略词

本文旨在分析比较英汉缩略词貌似而实异的构词手法 ,在此基础上探讨英汉缩略词互译问题 ,总结其规律并指出其要点。

The first part of this paper makes a comparison of the similarities and differences between English and Chinese abbreviations. Four types of abbreviations can be found in English: abbreviations derived from Latin; clipped words; blends and initialisms, inclusive of acronyms. In Chinese, abbreviations include names of organizations and short forms of lengthy and complicated expressions. The second part of the paper focuses on translation of abbreviations between English and Chinese.
