This paper has expounded the main factors of influencing the selection of gymnastic teaching material contents in institutes and departments of physical education, i.e. the characters of education, science, innovation and advance and adaptability. It has also probed into the organizational principle of teaching material system and ordinal principle of teaching material contents, and the construction of the structural system of gymnastic teaching material contents in institutes and departments of physical education from the three aspects of knowledge, skill and ability.
