The Ivory Substitutes of the Coins “Qianyuan Tongbao”（乾元通 宝）in Tang Dynasty

宜兴宜城镇出土的二枚唐代“乾元通宝”象牙钱牌，反映出唐代已偶有代用 币，为宋代的纸币制度开创了先河。

The article introduces two pieces of ivory “qianyuan tongbao”（乾元通宝）o f Tang dynasty in Yichengzhen, Yixing. The data show that the substitutes for coin s have come into being and these substitutes was the very origin of the paper mo ney of Song dynasty.
