Extract the Essentials of Six Ancient Categories Of Chinese Characters

“六书”是中国传统文化的基础学问。两千多年来围绕这一语言文字学学科产生了众多的学者和卷帙浩繁的理论学说。由于传统“小学”缺乏现代语言学理论和手段,以致它的研究成果在现代语言科学理论铱系中显得方枘圃凿、时见舛驳。我们运用现代语言学理论和方法重新认识“六书”理论,以期这一传统学问在更多领域得到广泛充分的应用。

Six ancient categories of Chinese characters are the foundamental knowledge of Chinese traditional culture. There emerged numerous learners and theories about this philology. Because the traditional Little Learning was lack of modern linguistics theory and methods, its research results become imcompatible in the modern linguistics theoretical system, through which we can make full use of philology in more fields.
