From a perspective on the national science policy and its historical development in the United States, this article introduces the life and role of Vannevar Bush as the framer of the post WWII American science policy, and as the harbinger of the information age. A few related works on science policy and social development are also commented. Some aspects of the implications and lessons to the Chinese science policy and social development are also discussed.
