This project (AiF 12051 N) is an attempt to evaluate the best method of fiber blending on Uster MDTA 3 so that properties of rotor-spun yarns produced from MDTA 3 slivers are comparable to those produced industrially. Five different methods of fiber blending have been proposed and cotton and viscose fibers are blended in 50/50 ratio according to those proposed methods and Optimas-6.2, an image processing software, is used to evaluate best mixing method. The effect of number of passages on mixing quality has also been studied. Furthermore, reliability of rotor-spun yarns produced from MDTA 3 slivers with conventionally produced rotor-spun yarns produced from MDTA 3 slivers with conventionally produced rotor-spun yarns from card and drawframe slivers has been checked in terms of their properties.
