A Preliminary Report on the Experimental Growing of Vitex trifoeca Seedlings in Short Branch Container

本试验探索了蔓荆育苗的新技术,利用蔓荆耐风耐沙耐盐碱的习性,在沿海沙荒、沙滩、风口地段种植,长势良好。蔓荆是沿海防风固沙的一种有效植被,引种蔓荆,是一条经济实用、本小利大的开发利用沙荒沙滩的新路子,为营造沿海防风固沙林开辟了一条行之有效的途径,为改善沿海地区的生态环境创造了条件。

This paper explores a new technology of Vitex trifolca seed-lings growing. The experimental planting of Vitex trifolca at a sandybeach and a wind gap section of an area along the coast, by taking ad-vantage of its habits and characteristics of wind-resisting,sand-resisting and saline-alkali-resisting, has proved successful. Vitex trifolca is a type of an effective vegetation used to protect against wind and to fix sand along the coast. The paper points out that intro-ducing Vitex trifolca is a new way of developing a sandy wasteland and a sandy beach, which is economical and practical, and that it opens up an effective way for planting wind-break and sand-fixing forests, and creating conditions for improving ecological environment of the area along the coast.
