The Han period Luozhuang tomb is located 1 km west of Luozhuang Village in Zhangqiu City to the east of Jinan City,Shandong Province.Around the grave,36 funeral and sacrificial pits with above 3,000 objects were discovered through several seasons of survey and excavation from the summer of 1999 to the end of 2001.The most important phenomenon is their location in different layers, which is recorded for the first time in the archaeology of Han princes' tombs and has great academic value.Among the plentiful funeral objects of high significance are over 100 bronze vessels, above 140 musical instruments, three practical carriages and more than 40 horse trappings. This paper, makes an all-round introduction to the archaeological results previously achieved from the cemetery and a detailed description of the No.14 musical instrument pit. These are followed by a preliminary inference of the tomb-owner's status and a brief statement of the accomplishments so far obtained in the academic study of the tomb.
