An exegetical study of the archaic Chinese names of eight grain crops

我国古代典籍中记述有许多粮食作物名称,由于历史变迁,古今名称大都不一致,影响科学文化的继承与传播.本文选取了8种主要粮食作物,对其古汉名进行了考证,沟通古今,沟通中外,在拯救、继承与弘扬古文化方面具有现实意义.

Recorded in China's classical works were grain crops of various kinds, whose ancient names, due to historical developments, are generally different from what they are called now. This paper, an exegetical study of the archaic Chinese names of eight kinds of grain crops, intends to trace back the origins of the names and brings together their ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign versions, in an effort to preserve and promote ancient Chinese culture in their particular respect.
