摘要
翻译中的补偿就是用译入语语言形式补足在转换原文语言形式时造成的语义损失。补偿手段在 唐宋诗词英译时常用。
Ever since translation took place, the method of compensation has been adopted and widely popularized. Compensation in translation is to make up for the semantic losses occurred in the course of converting the linguistic forms of the original language into those of the target. For different linguistic forms, ways of compensation differ. This paper focuses on the illustration of some particular ways of compensation frequently adopted in translating Chinese poetic works of the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and the Song Dynasty (960-1279) into English so as to highlight the significance of this method in this regard.
