Appearing in Taiwan literature since mid-1970's, the political poems and the political novels are known for their opposition against the government of the inferior-powered-and-influenced population, and have a strong and out-of-office and rebellious character. One kind of the political novels take political appeals and petitions as their main purpose, and the other kind have no definite political views and only write novels of political struggle on the basis of the authors' care for the fate of their nation. Since 1990 'Taiwan mentality' has become a heatedly discussed topic of intellectuals, and with the strengthening of the native exposition, Taiwan literature creation becomes a not-to-be-neglected trend. Taiwan literature has not only the questions at an academic level but also concerns the identification of the clans and the country. Under the disguise of 'multilingual literature', some separatists inflate Taiwan speech that originally belongs to the Chinese dialects to an independent 'national language', purposedly arousing antagonism between the speeches of Beijing and Taiwan.
