V.K.Ting and the Modernization of Chinese Science

丁文江是中国近代新文化运动中的一位关键人物。他曾先后参与创办地质研究所、地质调查所、北京大学地质系、中国地质学会等中国最早的一批科研机构;他又与张君劢共同挑起"科玄论战"。无论从思想上还是从实践上,他都不愧是新文化运动时期科学派的旗手。丁文江在中国科学文化启蒙运动中扮演了重要的角色,他的科学思想既有时代性,又有独特性。他为中国科学的近代化做出了不可磨灭的贡献。

V.K.Ting,a key person of the modern Chinese new cultural movement,has taken part in setting up the earliest institution for scientific resarch,meanwhile,he has started the well-known discussion between science and metaphysics with Zhangjun-mai. For these,he is no doubt the scientific banner during the new cultrual movement not only in practice but in ideoloy as well.V.K. Ting plays a very important role in the scientific enlightenment campaign of China.His scientific ideology is timely and special, he has maken a great contribution to the modernization of Chinese science.
