Modernity and the Reconstruction of Chinese Literary History of the Twentieth Century

20世纪中国文学史的书写大体经过了两个历史阶段,即50年代的草创期和新时期以来的探索期。这两个历史阶段体现了不同的文学史书写的现代性追求和规范,前者体现了"学科"规范,后者体现了有限度的"学理"规范。文学史的书写呼唤着新的现代性理念,那就是建立新的历史观念,新的文学史观念。

The writing of Chinese literary history of the twentieth century has roughly undergone two historical phases, one is the initiative phase of the fifties, and the other, the probing phase since 'the New Period'. Both of them have embodied the different pursuits of modernity and norm of the writing of different literary histories. While the former indicates the norm of a 'discipline', the latter, a kind of norm of limited rationale. Nevertheless the writing of literary history still calls for a fresh new notion of modernity, viz. the construction of a new historical outlook and a new conception of literary history.
