Comparison, Misreading and the Nationality of the Development of Chinese Culture

中国文化处于反思传统、身份重建和进行国际定位的时期。应该对作为一种学科的比较文化作出时代的和哲学的阐释,提倡一种多元的、平等的民族文化关系观。中国文化的发展不能离开本民族的民族性,也就是与他者的共存与交流、对话关系。中国文化的现代化必须克服文化殖民主义和文化相对主义,正确地认识文化交流中的误读,以"中和"精神实现中国文化的重建。

Chinese culture is now amidst the period of rethinking of its tradition, reconstruction of its identity, and orienting itself internationally. Consequently philosophical interpretations in line with the contemporary time are to be bestowed on comparative culture as a discipline, through the advocation of a national cultural outlook of plurality and equality, that is, a relationship of co-existence, exchange and dialogue with the other, for the development of Chinese culture can not stay away from its own national character. To modernize Chinese culture, cultural colonialism and cultural relativism must then be overcome, by correctly specifying misreadings in cultural exchanges, so as to reconstruct Chinese culture with the spirit of the mean and harmony.
