京派作家萧乾的小说,都包含着"城中的两个世界"他的早期小说凭着一个城市中的"乡下人"的身份,明显地表现了对乡土的依怀和对都市的疏离,小说带有很强的自传色彩,都是"忧郁者的自白"。萧乾后期的小说逐渐走出个人狭小的圈子,加强了批判社会的力度,投入了广大的人生。但是,从萧乾的小说创作看,他无意流露的忧郁给他的作品带来了诗意,使作品呈现出更高的艺术价值,而他刻意追求的广大人生,虽然拓展了他的创作视野,却阻碍了他在艺术上的成功。

Xiao Qian belongs to Jingpai's author, his novels embody 'tow worlds of the city'. In the early novel, he have clearly a sentimental attachment for country and a negligence for city by means of village men's insight. He is skilled in vindicating himself, for this reason, his novels belong to confession of a sad men. In the later novel, he strengthen gradually society criticism. However, we find his novel show more poetic by confession of a sad men. His novel on society criticism open up field of creative vision, although show drawback on art and literature.
