This paper discusses the basic idea followed by constructing IT application in agriculture in the future and points out the principal objectives and tasks during the process:strengthening theoretical research on IT application in agriculture;unfolding demonstration research on agricultural virtual network and constructing agricultural information network,undertaking agricultural information resource systematic construction;deepening the exploitation and utilization of agricultural information resource;enhancing research and development of agriculture practical software systems;determining the target system of IT application in agriculture;and building and perfecting the management system for IT application in agriculture.
