中英风格的翻译及评价标准

针对目前仍然存在的风格不可译论点 ,从风格的定义和中西风格的比较出发 ,通过名家译作的实例证明风格是可译的。评价译作是一项复杂的系统工程 ,由于翻译涉及到译者、读者和译语社会、历史、文化等多方面因素 ,评价译文的标准不可能整齐划一 ,不能以原文为唯一或最高标准。

There still exists the opinion that the style of literary work is untranslatable. Based on the definition of literary style and the contrastive studies between Chinese and English styles, this paper elucidates, through successful examples in translation practice, that style is translatable. Yet the appraisement of the style of translated literature is a complicated and systematic project which involves various aspects, such as the translator, the readers and the historical and cultural factors of the target language society. Therefore, the criteria for the appraisement of translation should not be simplex. The source text should not be the only or the highest target according to which translation is evaluated.
