This article expounds that the discovery and exploitation of nontraditional oil resources is significantly important in the 21st century. Then, we introduce the definition, classification and research methods of nontraditional oil resources. We should use new research method and new idea to discover nontraditional reservoir. We should have a sustainable development system which is an integral system of resource, environment, economy and society.
