This paper briefly summarizes the characteristics and virtues of Resilient Packet Transport technology and expatiates it's timing mechanism and classes of service. The paper also deals with the contents of stratum clock distribution, latency, jitter, fault tolerance, protection and maintenance, and analyzes the performances of the TDM service closely to these contents. Meanwhile, it compares the performances of RPT with those of Ethernet.
