Metabolism is one of the most important concepts in studying the relation between Marx and e-cology. The author first introduces two interpretations about the source of this concept from the theories of Moleschott and Leibig, which influenced on Marx. Then he considers Marxs ecological criticism to capitalism based on the theory of ' the metabolism between human beings and nature' , and interprets ' the theory of labor process' in ' Capital' naturalistically. Finally he concludes that Marxism is Eco - socialism that has dissolved the confrontation between anthropocentrism and physi-ocentrism. Furthermore, Marx's concept of metabolism can provide the theoretic foundation to build up the thought of recycling and the environmental economics.
