On the disharmonious relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in contemporary rural families of China

婆媳不和是当代农村的常见的社会现象,经济纠纷、观念差异和外人挑拨是引发当代农村婆媳不和的重要原因。婆媳不和给家庭的人际关系带来很大的负面影响。调处好两者之间的关系应从发展经济、提高村民素质、婆媳相互理解以及发挥儿子(丈夫)的中介作用几个方面入手。

In the rural families of China, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law usu. cannot set up a harmonious relationship, which has become a rather common phenomenon resulting from economic issues, differences in thinking and other people's provocation. This disharmonious relationship has brought as well many side effects to the overall relation among families members. In order to solve this problem, developing economy, improving villagers' moral quality, calling for the two's mutual understanding and bringing the intermediate function of the son/husband into full play is urgently needed.
