This paper analyses the GCSE exams system and A level exams system in England and Wales and the relationship between the exams and admission system of higher education in the UK . It explores how students get qualifications through GCSE education and exams, A level education and exams, and how these qualifications lead to different kinds of higher education admissions through the help of UCAS. It points out the advantages and disadvantages of this qualification - based evaluation and admission system, and its implications for the evaluation reform for high school curriculum reform in China .
