When Pingyao, a historical and cultural city in China, formed an indissoluble bond with modern photography; when photographers, with different complexions and different accents, raised their cameras with their lens combing up every nook and cranny of this charming old town; and when the Pingyao International Photography Festival has witnessed three years’ intense intermingling and interaction between Chinese and foreign cultures---only at this moment, can we proudly proclaim to the world: that the Pingyao International Photography Festival, celebrated in a place boasting a civilization stretching 5,000 years, has become not only a grand assembly for contemporary photographers showcasing Shanxi’s development and the development trend of international photography, but also a confluence of Oriental and Occidental cultures, a platform for international cultural exchanges and an international brand to display Chinese unique charms.
