於梨华小说《在离去与道别之间》既延续了她小说创作的三个主题———传统农业文明与现代工商文明的冲突、女性意识的表达、儒林众相的塑造,又有所超越———对三者形而上的思考。构成她写作的"历史和传统"主要来自中国大陆和台湾,而不是她所在的美国。

Yu Lihua's novel Between Leaving and Saying Goodbye spreads her three subjects of novel writing, that is, the conflict between the traditional agriculture and modern industrial and commercial civilization, expression of female consciousness and creation of the images of Confucian scholars, and overtakes them, that is, giving metaphysical reflections on them. Her writing backgrounds, i.e.'history and tradition', come from Mainland of China and Taiwan, not from America where she lives.
