图式缺位与阅读理解障碍

Reading Comprehension Barriers due to Lack of Schema

摘要 理解是英语能力的重要组成部分,阅读的过程是视觉信息将已有的图式激活的过程, 英汉文化的差异造就了不同的经验和不同的图式。英汉文化的差异体现在语言的各个层面,因此相关图式的缺位必将对阅读者的理解造成障碍。 Reading comprehension is of vital importance in English acquisition. The process of reading is also the process of thevisual information activating the existed schema. However, the cultural differences existing in both Chinese and English result indifferent experiences and schema respectively. Besides, the cultural differences are also represented in the different phase of theEnglish language. So lack of schema will surely lead to comprehension barriers. Therefore, in reading comprehension,cross-cultural awareness should be cultivated and the relevant schema should be established so as to clear up the barriers.
