This paper discusses the advantages and basic principles of usingacrylic fiber tows to produce high shrinking raschel tops. It studiesthe requirements for tows when it is used to produce raschel tops; thetemperature of heating board and the relations between stretch ratio inheating zone and sliver shrinkage during the period of stretch-breaking;the ratio for mixed sliver in gilling procedure and its effects onthe product quality.
