摘要
现代性是现代化过程中全世界各国人民对社会巨变的一种生存体验。它从诞生的那天起就呈现出启蒙和审美的矛盾张力结构。随着全球化过程的加快，现代性迅即发展成为世界现象，在不同的国家、不同的学科领域衍生出不同的变体。本文作者从现代性视角出发，对现代性的发展史、中西翻译文化的现代性话语和林语堂翻译中的审美现代性问题作了宏观阐释。
Modernity is an experience of space and time, of the self and others, of life's possibilities and perils, which is shared by men and women all over the world during modernization. From the birth of modernity, it appeared as a paradox of enlightenment and aesthetics, and wore different masks with its development in different countries and different fields. This essay, from the angle of modernity, discusses the development of modernity, the modernity in translation studies and the aesthetic modernity of Lin Yu-tang's translation.
