On the Unity of the Scientific Spirit and Humanistic Spirit in Human Practical Activities

人类实践活动既是主体和客体、主观和客观对立的基础,又是使对立双方联系起来的桥梁,是人类为了自己的生存和发展所进行的能动地改造世界的一切社会性的客观物质活动。这就必然要求人们在从事实践活动时必须坚持科学精神与人文精神的统一。

Human practical activities are not only the basis of subject and object, but also the bridge linking up the two opposite aspects. That is, they are all the social objective and physical activities which are engaged in to remould the world for their existence and development. Therefore, human beings are required to insist on the unity of the scientific spirit and humanistic spirit when taking part in human social practical activities.
