Faulkner elaborately portrays a panorama of a Southern countryside with the breath of earth and a list of dramatic characters, which represents a deep souvenir for the venerable southern culture and for the process of seeking spiritual homeland. In the face of the uprising of Flem, the representative of bourgeoisie influence and of the decline of the Frenchman's Bend, the representative of defeated Southern Community, Faulkner feels infinite worry and compassion towards the lostness of southern traditional civilization. Besides the whip of bourgeoisie influence, there is calling for renewal of humanity under a reflection to the consequence of contemporary industrial society and a worry to man and his environment.
