审美人类学的重心是用人类学的方法和视野研究不同民族的“美学”现象 ,它的一个基本的方法论前提是在承认和尊重不同民族审美现象的差异性的基础上来研究人类美学的共同特征或本质。审美人类学以对传统美学研究的反思为出发点 ,是生活世界的美学 ,同时也是一种经验研究 。

Aesthetic anthropology is a method to study the aesthetic phenomena of different ethnic groups from anthropological perspective. Proceeding from the reflections on traditional aesthetic study, aesthetic anthropology is an experiential study as well as the aesthetics of life world. It contributes to transforming traditional aesthetics from metaphysics to a branch of knowledge.
