On the Multidisciplinary Objectives and Layout of Northeastern University

面对教育改革发展的新形势,东北大学必须加大学科建设的力度,努力建成多科性大学。分析了多科性大学的概念和基本特征,阐述了多科性大学建设的意义,明确了学科建设的定位及其目标,探讨了学科建设的体系及学科结构布局问题。在分析东北大学学科结构布局存在问题的基础上,指出了其实现学科发展目标与学科建设过程中应注意的问题:继续重点支持优势学科;积极建设应用理科与应用文科;调整院系设置,按学科门类进行学院设置;把硕士点、博士点学科建设与本科专业调整结合起来。

Facing the new situation of education reform, the Northeastern University has to step up its effort to become fully a multidisciplinary university. The definition and significance of a multidisciplinary university and its basic features are discussed so as to determine the multidisciplinary objectives and layout of the university. Analyzing the existing problems of Northeastern University's disciplinary layout, the developmental objectives of the university as a whole are explored with some suggestions proposed, such as to support continuously the superior disciplines, set up actively the applied scientific/humane disciplines, adjust the layout of schools/departments in accordance to disciplinary categories and in combination with the adjustment of the disciplines of which the degree of master or doctorate is available.
