The oracle inscriptions discovered in Yin Remains have records of Yin people worshiping Shang and Huan Rivers. Many scholars of China in field of history feel confused about Yin people worshiping such rivers, that are much smaller than the Huanghe River. In fact, the combined analysis of oracle inscriptions with archaeology, history, bibliography phonology etc, shows that Shang and Huan Rivers are the place where Shang people were brought up, and the 'home 'of Shang culture. Naturally the Shang people would take it holy and worshiped successively to show their memory of this place. Meanwhile they also pray for holy protection for them and their descendants.
