The characteristics, mechanism of function and a survey of development and application of plant-based pesticides were briefly introduced. Research and application of plant-based insecticides, germicides, nematicides and antiviral agents on control of tobacco diseases and pests were reviewed. Problems in the development and utilization of plant-based pesticides and prospect were also discussed.
