This paper gives information about the future trend and orientation of overseas petrochemical industry, as well as the strategy foreign companies adopt to maintain their sustaining competitiveness. It points out the aspects for improvement on the part of Chinese petrochemical enterprises in international competition on the basis of analyses of development orientation, organizational structure, production, business management, challenges presented by environmental protection, and other problems that transnational petrochemical enterprises are confronted with.
