Employing Bokhtin's theory of carnivallization, this paper is meant to analyze the carnival elements in Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra. Throughout the play, there is a dichotomy between the Roman world, representing the official culture and the Egyptian world, standing for the folk culture.
