文字是语言最重要的辅助工具，是人们日常生活中须臾不可或缺的符号系统。从历时角度出发，对蒙古文字做一历史性描述，有助于了解该民族文化思维发展的轨迹。
The writing system is not only the most important auxiliary instrument of a language, but the indispensable system of signs used in daily life. A diachronic description of the Mongolian writing system presents the readers a general idea of the development of the nation's culture and thought.
